Minnesota Zoo: Last Chance for Africa! & What’s New for Fall?
Apple Valley, MINN – September 1, 2009: – Sun is setting on the Minnesota Zoo’s popular summer exhibit – Africa!, which runs through Labor Day, September 7. This week is your last chance to see giraffe, zebra, ostrich and antelope all sharing the same grassland. Don’t forget about the cool giraffe feeding photo-op.
Also open through Labor Day is the Zoo’s beautiful Aveda butterfly garden.
Fall activities abound at the Zoo. Plus, lower admission prices beginning on September 8.

Join us for a day filled with Latin American flair. Our fall festival will include music, dancing, crafts, and special piñata fun for the animals! Event runs 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Fish First: October 1
Your seafood choices make a difference! Join local celebrity chefs as they prepare delicious and sustainable gourmet ocean and freshwater dishes, complemented with fine wines and music. Event begins at 6 p.m.; cost is $50/person. Register online at mnzoo.org.
2nd Annual Scarecrow Alley: October 4-31
Unique, family-friendly, animal-themed scarecrow on display throughout the month of October in the Zoo’s Lakeside Terrace on the Central Plaza from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. To submit an entry, visit mnzoo.org.
HallZOOween: October 24-25 & 31
Looking for a fun, safe place for trick or treating? Come to the Zoo, in costume, for a day of music, crafts, and treats! Even the animals will enjoy some pumpkin action. Event runs 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Wild about Wine: November 14
Join us for the fourth annual “Wild about Wine.” Enjoy tasting of a variety of wines. The Zoo’s Tropics Trail provides the perfect backdrop for this exotic evening of wine, appetizers and music. Event begins at 5:30 p.m.; cost is $50/person. Register online at mnzoo.org.
Woodland Adventure – Seasonal
Located on the Zoo's Central Plaza is Woodland Adventure, a nature-based play area with a Minnesota theme. Children can explore a bear’s den, sit in a huge eagle’s nest, climb over giant turtle shells, and play in a tree house. Open until the first snowfall.
