Moose Exhibit Welcomes New Calves

Six abandoned moose calves have found their new home along the Minnesota Zoo's Northern Trail. These moose calves were abandoned in Northern Minnesota this spring and the two eldest calves, twins, are now on exhibit from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. daily.
The calves are approximately 7-9 1/2 weeks old and are being hand-reared behind-the-scenes by the Zoo's animal care staff. The two eldest calves weigh over 200 pounds, and all six are doing well.

Other New Residents on Exhibit

Take a stroll on the Medtronic Minnesota Trail and visit our porcupette (born May 29) on exhibit AND beaver kits (born June 26) viewable in their lodge.

A new common octopus is on exhibit in Discovery Bay's cephalopod tank.

Nature-based Playground Breaks Ground!
Thanks to the generosity of our donors a new playground is set to open in the summer of 2015. The playground will be located across the path from the new Conservation Carousel. The nature-based playground will be approximately five times the size of Woodland Adventure on Central Plaza, and encourage children to use their imaginations while experiencing the smells, textures, and wonders of the natural world.
