Zoo Travel Adventures Whether you’re a first-time traveler or a seasoned globe trotter, the Minnesota Zoo offers travel adventures that allow you to experience the beauty of the natural world firsthand. Guided by experienced Zoo staff and other local wildlife experts, Zoo Travel Adventures introduce you to specialists engaged in field research and conservation activities—giving you the adventure of a lifetime and demonstrating your commitment to conservation through ecotourism. Join us in Tanzania Your trip begins with a visit to Tarangire National Park, a quiet and scenically-beautiful park with giant baobab trees, rivers, rolling grasslands, and, of course, abundant wildlife, including great numbers of elephants. Spend two days on morning and afternoon game drives and nights at the Sanctuary Swala Camp,within sight of a wellfrequented water hole. Next stop is LakeManyara, famous for its giraffes, “tree-climbing” lions, and vast flocks of pink flamingos, followed by a visit and overnight stay at Ngorongoro Crater. Known as “Africa’s Garden of Eden,” the Crater is the best self-contained safari destination in the world, home to an estimated 30,000 animals in 100 square miles. The name Serengeti comes from theMaasai language and means “endless plains.” Serengeti National Park is a 10,000 square mile expanse of grasslands, savannahs and forests that is home to dozens of species, including elephants, giraffes, lions, leopards, cheetahs, buffalos, antelopes and hyenas.The Serengeti is the site of the spectacular wildbeest and zebra migration, the greatest mass movement of animals on earth. Your trip includes five nights in this remarkable park at two different camps: Kusini Tented Camp and SerengetiMobile Camp. Enjoy daily morning and afternoon game drives, coupled with evenings in camp, listening to the sounds of theAfrican bush. Your last stop will be a game drive inArusha National Park, a tiny park that boasts outstanding scenery, theMomela Lakes, lush highland forests, and over 500 bird species. It is a stunning place to end yourAfrican wildlife expedition.
