Habitat: Old fields, wood edges, desert scrub, open pinewoods, mountain canyons, watersides and wet meadows.

Range: Throughout south and southwest, northward east of the Rockies, rarely into Northeast.

Facts: The common name Sleepy Orange may come from this butterfly’s habit of hibernating through the cooler days of the southern winter.
