Palamedes Swallowtail
Papilio palamedes
Habitat: Subtropical wetlands, coastal swamps, humid woods with standing water.
Range: Southern Maryland to southern Florida, throughout the southwestern U.S., around Gulf of Mexico to southern Texas and northern Mexico.
Facts: The Palamedes is the signature swallowtail of swamps. It is a slow flyer and continuously beats its wings while getting nectar from flowers.
