Habitat: Beaches, salt marshes, coastal plains, offshore islands, sandy flats.

Range: Southern Texas, Gulf coast, Florida, up Mississippi Valley to Kansas, up Atlantic to Virginia.

Facts: The coloring of female Great Southern Whites depends on the length of day. Summer populations are usually darker in color. This species participates in great northerly migrations flying 15 to 20 feet in the air.
